Our Practice
We are committed to our mission statement which has guided Dr. Robson and his team throughout the years of dental practise: "To provide quality dentistry in a professional and attentive manner, focussing on prevention, education and comfort. We stay current with technology and information to provide you, our patients, with the best in oral health". This mission statement has been posted in the entry of our office for 25 years.
Professionalism & Attentiveness
For Dr. Robson, professionalism means speaking to his patients in a courteous manner, sharing his knowledge of their condition and allowing them to chose from alternatives presented. But it also means that he spends many hours outside of the clinical day, reviewing his patients' clinical records and planning their treatment. When he walks into the treatment room, he is knowledgeable about his patient's unique condition and ready for the planned procedure. Sometimes, for a procedure to flow smoothly in the chair, a lot of hours must be spent behind the scenes.
This is a busy, small town practice with a small town feel. Staff know every patient on sight and can greet them by first name with a friendly smile. Staff also knows each patient's preferences and idiosyncrasies and do a commendable job of meeting their requirements, be it for a neck roll, or an early morning appointment. Dr. Robson spends whatever time it takes to explain to his patients their dental conditions. Every treatment room is equipped with an intra-oral camera so that patients can see for themselves what is being described. Staff are all fully trained to use the cameras to provide patients with an in-depth look into their mouths. Questions are encouraged and always answered to the patient's satisfaction. Dr. Robson is guided by the notion of "informed consent" before treatment.
Education & Prevention
As members of the dental professions, we truly believe that preventive care and education are the keys to optimal dental health. We strive to provide “dental health care” vs. “disease care”. That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary. We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease. Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health. A review of your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications, and any illnesses that may impact your dental health. Our education videos are displayed overhead in each treatment room to explain conditions and procedures in easy to understand presentations. We also have various displays and props to illustrate conditions and treatments to make it easier for our patients to understand.
Infection Control
In this day and age, it should go without saying that proper infection control practices are strictly followed. But we'll say it anyway: To protect our patients and ourselves, we maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes following the guidelines set out by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario which is the licensing body for all dentists in Ontario.
Training & Expertise
As dental health professionals, we want patients to feel confident that we are a team of highly trained and skilled clinicians. To provide our patients with the best possible treatment that we can, we are committed to continuing education and lifelong learning. We attend dental lectures, meetings, and dental conventions regularly to stay informed of new techniques, products, and scientific findings pertaining to dentistry. Dr. Robson usually sets aside Fridays through out the fall, winter and spring to pursue continuing education. All of our team members have over 10 years of experience in their field, and/or health sciences, and the majority of our team has been with Dr. Robson for 6 - 20 years.
